NSW Teachers and the Law Conference 2005 - Knowing the legal landscape in public education

NSW public school staff are encouraged to actively pursue professional learning opportunities that will strengthen their practice and improve learning outcomes for their students. The Professional Learning and Leadership Development Directorate supports the professional learning of school staff at every stage of their development. The NSW DET Professional Learning Continuum is the framework for planning, delivering and evaluating professional learning for school-based staff and staff who directly support the work of schools. It includes a suite of professional learning programs for school leaders and staff, informed by the NSW Institute of Teachers Professional Teaching Standards and the NSW DET School Leadership Capability Framework. The Continuum and details of professional learning courses can be found at the Directorate's website.

Currently advertised courses are also located using the Professional Learning Exchange and TaLe.

Effective learning pathways provide programs and experiences that build upon students' interests and abilities while also developing career options and employment opportunities. The Good Practice Guide explores successful local models of co-operation between schools, TAFE and universities.
