Narooma Public School represented the Illawarra South East Region at the Showcase09 videoconference which linked ten schools from each region. Opened by the Minister for Education and Training, Verity Firth, the Showcase celebrated the Education Week focus on the environment.

Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony, Warilla High School
The awards acknowledged the outstanding contributions by staff, students, parents, community members and schools to public education in the Illawarra and South East Region. Maria Gray-Spence, Regional Director, gave the Education Week address watched on by Phil Hirst School Education Director.

Bradley, Bega High School, received the Student Achievement Student with Special Needs Award from Maria Gray-Spence, Regional Director.  Bradley's fine work ethic and attention to detail have allowed Bradley to challenge his disabilities and enabled him to show great improvements in the Key Learning Areas. His perseverance and positive attitude have earned the respect of his teachers and classmates.

Director-General for a Day and associated programs
Nathan, Year 11, Smiths Hill High School, Illawarra/South East Region travelled to Sydney and worked with Des Gorman as the General Manager, Learning and Development for a Day. Nathan was assisted by Cassandra, Wagga Wagga High School, Riverina Region.
