Merrylands East Public School represented the South Western Sydney Region at the Showcase09 videoconference which linked ten schools from each region. Opened by the Minister for Education and Training, Verity Firth, the Showcase celebrated the Education Week focus on the environment.

Ambassadors for Public Education program at South Western Sydney Region - now in its 3rd proud year.
Over 240 students from across primary, secondary and Schools for Specific Purposes came together for a day of learning, networking and fun at the University of Western Sydney, Campbelltown Campus.

The region's newly-appointed Ambassadors for Public Education took part in workshops on leadership and advocacy, and heard from a past Ambassador about his achievements during his tenure.

They also enjoyed numerous university activities in the areas of medicine, veterinary science, chemistry, law and languages, as a 'taster' of what they can expect when they finish school and begin university study.

These young people, selected for their leadership, citizenship, communication skills and involvement in their schools' communities, will now work to promote public education and lead by example in their schools. Check out more photos (pdf 5MB).

Stephen, Year 11, Thomas Reddall High School, South Western Sydney Region joined Zofia, Year 11, Broken Hill High School, Western NSW Region, with Michael Coutts-Trotter as Director-General for a Day in Sydney.

Ranie, Year 11, Cabramatta High School, South Western Sydney Region travelled to the city to meet Trevor Fletcher. Together with Cameron, Year 11, Killara High School, Northern Sydney Region they performed duties as Deputy Director-General (Schools) for a Day.

Warwick Farm Public School showcased their Education Week and Reconciliation Week celebrations on Thursday 28 May. The Director-General, Michael Coutts-Trotter joined in the celebrations attending a school assembly, performances and stage 1 and stage 2 classrooms.

Liverpool Girls' High School showcased the Writer in Residence Program with the highly acclaimed author Ms Nadia Wheatley. The Director-General attended the Advanced English Workshop held by Nadia Wheatley.
