Greg Welch is Australia's best known triathlete. Having competed since 1986 Greg
has won all the big races including the ITU World Championships, World Duathlon
and the coveted Hawaii Ironman. A feat that has not been achieved by any other
Australian.
Greg retired from competing on the 11 January 2000 after learning he has a heart
condition that was not considered life threatening unless he returned to racing. He
has since commentated at a number of international Triathlon races and is still
heavily involved with the sport.
