Louise made her mark in the history books when she won a silver medal at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.

More recently Louise made headlines when she severely injured her left knee whilst contesting the women's javelin at the Athletic trials only weeks before the 2000 Sydney Olympics. After being fitted with a special knee brace Louise courageously competed at the Sydney Games.

Her personal best throw was achieved at the Commonwealth Games in 1998. 66.96m (66.03m new implement).

Louise is married to Andrew Currey who is the Australian record holder in javelin.
