The NSW Government is a world leader in supporting environmental education and, in particular, the implementation of Agenda 21, an agreed course of action towards ecological sustainability emanating from the 1992 Earth Summit.

A key learning area for all school students in the twenty-first century is that the state of the natural environment ultimately determines the quality and survival of life on Earth.
The Sustainable Schools Program will be promoted throughout the 2,200 NSW primary and secondary schools over a two-year period. Those schools that meet the strict requirements to be declared an 'ecologically sustainable facility' will be rewarded with prizes contributed by sponsors.
Sustainability is an issue with a rapidly increasing presence in society. Sponsor alignment with sustainability within education will demonstrate a commitment to good ecological practice and support for the part education can play in changing human behaviour for the long-term good of humanity.
