NavigationOne of the main differences between a good web site and a great web site is the ease with which users can navigate the site. A navigation bar at the top or side of the page will enable users to browse through the web site with a minimum of fuss. Make sure that links to other pages are highly visible and there is a link on every page back to the home page, the page user came from or to an area that contains a number of hypertext links. Avoid the possibility of users having to use the back button on their browsers to move through the site as they can easily become lost using this method of navigation. Time spent thinking about navigation before the building of web pages will save an enormous amount of time if changes have to be made to the web site. |
