Role of the teacher

The role of the teacher is to oversee the creation of the web site, to make sure that all conditions of entry and the NSW Department of Education and Training guidelines (Note - This link can only be accessed through a Department of Education Internet account) have been followed .

Teachers are responsible for their school team/s entered in the web design competition.

In light of the large number of entries, it is essential that teams register and upload their web site well before the closing dates. This will ensure you have adequate time to test and check your web site. Do not leave uploading of your web site to the last minute.

How do the teams function?

Teams must have three or more students. All teams must have only one (1) point of contact from the school. That point of contact must be a teacher.

Schools with more than one team may have a different teacher contact for each team. Teams can involve community members to act in an advisory capacity. However, all work must be done by student team members.

While team advisers may not perform any of the research, design or production of the web site, they may assist students with locating information, contacting members of the public and instructing students in the use of Internet-related technologies.

Teams need to demonstrate how they worked together to create their web site and the role played by each student.

Each team member must have a signed permission note to allow the school to publish their work on the Internet. These forms should be printed out, completed and retained by the school, and made available if required.

All team members must contribute to the development of the web site.

Looking for ideas and suggestions?

There are a number helpful areas including the hints and tips page, role and responsibilities of team members, web site uploading information and judging criteria .

A look at the checklist will ensure that the web site fulfills the requirements of the competition.

Entries will be judged on how well your site can be used as an educational resource by other students.
