Each year a number of state-wide competitions in the performing and creative arts give students across NSW the opportunity to compete against other.

YouthRock, coordinated by the Department to support and develop young rock musicians, is a key event during Youth Week.

Students who form their own bands and write original material have the chance, through the YouthRock competition, to gain financial and logistic support from the music industry.

Participating in the competition helps young musicians develop confidence and can even kick-start a career in the industry.
