Can I change my child's surname on school records?
Yes, provided certain requirements are met. Talk to the school about how to do this.
My spouse/partner and I have recently separated. Who should I advise?
Advise the school of your present situation. Your school counsellor will provide assistance if required. Parents or caregivers should provide copies of any court orders so that staff can be aware of the rights and responsibilities each one may have. Your rights of privacy will be respected.
Can non-residential parents access records concerning their children?
The school generally gives notes, reports and other documents concerning students to residential parents but non-residential parents may be provided with copies, subject to any orders of the Family Court.
Can the school use videos or photographs of my child for promotional or other purposes?
Parents' or caregivers' consent must be obtained before release of video material or photographs for any purpose.
