Uniform requirements

The Department supports the wearing of school uniforms by students.

Schools have their own policies on uniforms, developed in consultation with their school community. Schools implement strategies to encourage the wearing of uniforms. Parents/caregivers should contact the school for this information before their child starts or changes school.

Clothing pool

To keep costs down for parents and caregivers, many schools operate a school uniform clothing pool with new and second hand items. The school can also advise parents about which retailers stock the uniform.

Most uniform requirements will include summer, winter and sports uniforms, with some articles of clothing applicable to all seasons. Hats are generally also included as part of the school uniform and students are encouraged to wear them.
