One secondary school with its feeder primary schools from each region is participating in an action research project. Each group of schools will develop a research question that focuses on teaching and learning across Years 5 to 8. A suitable research question is defined within the following guidelines:
- improves educational outcomes for students in the middle years
- improves collaboration between primary and secondary schools (or classes in a K–10/12 school)
- boosts school enrolments.
Schools participating in the Middle Years Action Research project assessed their readiness using the downloadable School profile form (Ms word 59kb).
To assist with analysis of typical practice in the middle years within a school, use the downloadable survey School profile for the middle years (Years 5 to 9) (Ms word 126kb).
Groups of schools in the project were invited to participate in an orientation workshop in 2005 and will meet educational and financial accountability requirements during 2005 and 2006.
The following documents help explain and support an action research project.
