SMART Software
The School Measurement, Assessment and Reporting Toolkit (SMART) system is a powerful diagnostic tool that provides feedback on the NAPLAN and ESSA results to NSW schools and their communities. The web-based SMART system is available to schools as a centralised system and is accessed through the Department of Education and Communities (DEC) portal.
ESSAonline 2011
The ESSAonline 2011 results are now available in SMART for participating schools to access. The change from a written test to an online test has necessitated a change in the reporting scale for ESSA results. This means that 2011 data cannot be directly compared with data from previous years and therefore no trend data nor the 2009 and 2010 percentage in levels will be displayed in SMART for 2011 results.
Principals are reminded to maintain their staff list for approved access to SMART data through AMU to ensure only current teaching staff can access the school's data.
2011 HSC/SC
The 2011 HSC/SC results are now available in SMART for government schools and regions to access.
Principals are reminded to maintain their staff list for approved access to SMART data through AMU to ensure only current teaching staff can access the school's data.
2011 NAPLAN
The 2011 NAPLAN results are now available in SMART for schools and regions to access.
Principals are reminded to maintain their staff list for approved access to SMART data through AMU to ensure only current teaching staff can access the school's data.
Provisioning
Principals and their delegated officers are responsible for providing and maintaining access to SMART for the staff at their school.
Important
NAPLAN Persuasive Writing Scale
ACARA introduced a new and additional NAPLAN reporting scale for the 2011 data. The new scale means that the results for Writing in 2011 cannot be compared with results in Writing for any of the previous years and it will not be possible to report student growth and trend data for both means and percentages in bands. Changes have been made to SMART and apply to Writing only.
New eLearning modules are embedded within SMART to support users in access and navigation as well as the interpretation of the NAPLAN data.
Schools can access the 2011 NAPLAN results through the DET portal link to SMART in 'My Applications'. If portal access is not available to Principals:
