Early Literacy Initiative (ELI) The Early Literacy Initiative (ELI) project aims to improve teaching practice in literacy for K-3 teachers working with communities in low socio-economic contexts. A series of programs entitled Learning and literacy is being delivered by satellite to allow interactivity between teachers throughout the state and a group of studio presenters. Each broadcast is available in video form with support material designed to provide additional information on the class programs featured, group activities, lists of additional readings and references. The series is designed to improve opportunities to encourage discussion. The purpose of the series is primarily to generate discussion to allow schools to make professional judgements based on their particular contexts.
