Dance

Dance for Years 7 to 10 is an elective course based on the study of dance as an artform. Its framework ensures an all-round dance education in Performance, Composition and Appreciation.

The aim of the Dance syllabus is to develop in the students the ability to:

  • express themselves through dance
  • compose, perform and choreograph in dance
  • develop skills and techniques of dance with an understanding of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology
  • appreciate dance as a performing art
  • understand and accept a variety of dance styles
  • obtain knowledge of dance in an historical context
  • promote an understanding of themselves and others by providing opportunities for them to work in cooperative circumstances.
