Agriculture allows students to develop knowledge and understanding of the scientific principles of agriculture. It is designed to increase student understanding and abilities in the use of technologies associated with agricultural enterprises.
Students develop research and design skills. They also learn to collect and organise information, work in a team, plan and organise activities, manage small enterprises, market products, solve problems, innovate, carry out scientific experiments and communicate to a variety of audiences.
Students should be able to make ethical decisions and responsible judgements on the use of agricultural technologies and the basic resources of soil, air and water, to ensure a sustainable future.
A syllabus is a document that gives teachers an outline of what students are to be taught in a specific learning area.
The syllabus and other supporting material for Agriculture 11-12 are available from the Board of Studies.
