Accounting
The aim of this course is to provide practical and theoretical training in bookkeeping clerical skills and business computing for students seeking entry to commerce or in the public sector.
The course is a TAFE-delivered Vocational HSC Certificate level course for Higher School Certificate students which, as a Board Developed course, will contribute to their Universities Admissions Index (UAI). This course will prepare students for later tertiary accounting studies.
This course is intended to provide students with operational accounting and computing skills to enable them to carry out these basic accounting and computer terminal operations. At the completion of the course students will be able to perform as accounts clerks, operating manual and computerised accounting systems.
Accounting Procedures provides students with skills and knowledge associated with manual accounting information systems and ledger systems. Business Computing and Computer Accounting Systems extend this knowledge and develop skills associated with operating and maintaining a computer based accounting system. The TAFE modules have been aligned to competency standards in the Financial Services Training package. Students will receive a TAFE Certificate II and a statement of Attainment for the competencies successfully achieved.
