Crossroads: A Personal Development and Health Education Course for Stage 6 (1999)

The resource was developed to support the course, Crossroads: A Personal Development and Health Education Course for Stage 6. Crossroads is taught in Years 11 and/or 12 in NSW government schools.

The resource consists of two components: the video, Crossroads: the Park and The Party, produced by Life Education Australia, and a booklet to support the video, produced by the NSW Department of Education and Training.

This resource explores the effects of smoking, decision making, rules and consequences. Activities have been tailored to meet the needs of Aboriginal students but are appropriate for all students.

Peer-Led Alcohol Lessons for Students (PALS) (2004)

This resource has been designed to enable schools to implement peer-led alcohol education activities for Years 7 or 8 students, using peers in Years 10 or 11 to conduct the activities. It was developed by the NSW Department of Education and Training and the Peer Support Foundation.

 
Peer-Led Alcohol Lessons for Students (PALS)

This resource, for students in Years 11 and 12, supports the course, Crossroads: A Personal Development and Health Education Course for Stage 6. Activities focus on celebrations that might include alcohol. It includes issues about drink driving, laws on the supply of alcohol, risk taking behaviour and hosting safer parties.

 
Set to Celebrate

This resource has updated teaching and learning activities which now reflect:

  • changes in the Personal Development Health and Physical Education Syllabus Years 7-10 (2003)
  • new research about prevalence of tobacco use by young people
  • information regarding changes to tobacco legislation related to smoking.

Advocacy against smoking and raising awareness of tobacco product placement in movies and television are still featured.
