An annual event involving teams of four students from Year 11 in Government schools. In association with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the students are challenged with a number of fieldwork skills that support outcomes in the Science, TAS and HSIE key learning areas. At the end of the day, students use the data collected to recommend a management strategy for the area they have investigated..

A competition for all students in Years 5 to 8 managed by OTEN, The Department of Land and Water Conservation and the DET. It involves student detective groups investigating environmental 'victims' and 'crime sites'. The competition operates over a three-week period each year via satellite and Internet broadcasts. The first school to identify the environmental villain is the winner.
