National Youth Week runs from 28 March to 5 April and the slogan for 2009 is “Make a move”.
It is a celebration of young people throughout the state, their endless potential and continued encouragement in being a proactive and constructive part of their communities - whether it is through organising music festivals, competitions or other forms of entertainment.
What is the aim of National Youth Week?
- Provide an opportunity for young people aged 12 to 25 to express their ideas and views, raise issues of concern to them, act on issues which affect their lives and create and enjoy entertainment.
- Provide an opportunity for the wider community to listen to young people, and to acknowledge and celebrate the positive contributions made by their efforts and achievements.
- Promote a community focus on issues of concern to young people.
The NSW State Government are encouraging young people during Youth Week by providing support and funding opportunities to aid and assist the organisation of events in their local areas.
