Director-General’s School Achievement Award

Director-General of the NSW Department of Education and Training, Michael Coutts-Trotter has acknowledged 36 NSW public schools for their significant contribution to public education.

Mr Coutts-Trotter said the Director-General's School Achievement Award is given out annually to schools that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to providing quality education.

"These 36 schools are shining examples of what is great about public education in NSW," Mr Coutts-Trotter said.

"Our education system is world-class thanks to the dedication and commitment of our principals, teachers and support staff.

"This year's recipients are 'stand-outs' in their community because of their innovative teaching and learning programs," he said.

"In NSW we have a strong commitment to teaching values, respect and responsibility and providing quality learning environments for students to learn and grow.

"These core values are fostered and nurtured through our local schools," Mr Coutts-Trotter said.

"These 36 schools have implemented programs that range from nurturing performing arts to quality teaching of literacy and numeracy and have not only delivered positive outcomes for students, but have captured community support as well.

"I would like to congratulate all of the recipients for making such exceptional contributions to public education," Mr Coutts-Trotter said.

The Director-General's School Achievement Award is presented at the local level to enable the participation of school staff, students and community members.
