Higher School Certificate exams will wrap up today after more than 4,300 NSW students sit their final tests this afternoon.

Minister for Education and Training Verity Firth said students would hear "pens down" for the last time following exams in French Extension, Information Technology and Textiles and Design.

"I have no doubt there will be feelings of joy and relief among the record 69,261 students who undertook the HSC this year," Ms Firth said.

"Completing the HSC is a significant achievement and students have had to work very hard to meet the challenges of this world class credential.

"I would like to congratulate students on the completion of their secondary school studies and wish them all the best for the future."

Ms Firth said students could check their Assessment Rank Order Notices at Students Online online from 5pm today.

"Students should have received a postcard this week with their PIN and a reminder to log on to studentsonline.bos.nsw.edu.au." Ms Firth said.

"It is important students check this important assessment information, which affects their final HSC result.

"Students are also encouraged to complete an online survey to provide feedback on their experience of this year's HSC."

HSC results will be available on Wednesday 16 December via the internet, telephone or SMS.

Students can register for SMS by sending a text message with their student number and PIN to 0427 659 900.

The Telephone Results Service will be available to students from 6am on 16 December by calling 1300 669 248 and providing their student number and PIN.

Students can also view their results, using their student number and PIN, at three Board of Studies websites:

Ms Firth urged students who were planning to celebrate the end of exams on holiday to celebrate safely and responsibly.
