The NSW Minister for Education and Training Verity Firth said the NSW Government had established an audit squad to ensure value for money in the implementation of the education stimulus package.

"This is a massive infrastructure program and the Education Department has designed its systems to be as flexible as possible while meeting the timelines set by the Commonwealth," Ms Firth said.

"We're committed to ensuring that our processes are followed right down to the school level so that everything's being done correctly and no money is wasted."

Ms Firth said the squads would conduct spot audits of all Building the Education Revolution projects covering every region, every project type and every managing contractor.

"Auditors will examine the procedures in place at each school site including child safety issues and ensure that all managing contractors and their subcontractors comply with Commonwealth and NSW Government guidelines.

"Projects will be assessed on time, cost and quality and independent audits will also be carried out by Deloittes and the NSW Audit office," Ms Firth said.

"The NSW Government wants information about the Building the Education Revolution to be as open and transparent as possible.

"That's why we've established a dedicated website which will detail the full cost of every project being undertaken so principals, teachers and parents will be able to see for themselves that they're getting value for money."

"The measures we have put in place will make this the most transparent public expenditure process ever undertaken in NSW."
