WeCreate: Connected Learning Awards

Students as young as five years old are creating digital animations, photo books, and now designing new stamps, using cutting-edge technology in place at NSW schools.

The 2010 WeCreate: Connected Learning Awards offer students from Kindergarten to Year 12 exciting opportunities to use information and communication technologies in meaningful, engaging and creative ways by creating entries for one or more of six award categories:

These are open to all school students across Australia and will comprise of four separate competitions. Students have the opportunity to use a variety of software applications to create digital artworks that express ideas about several subjects.

These encourage all school students across Australia to review basic principles of storytelling, create storyboards, capture images with digital cameras, write stories and post their stories on the internet.

These encourage students to go behind the scenes and use their own creative abilities to develop a short film of three minutes. Separate short film competitions will be conducted for primary school students across Australia and secondary students in NSW public schools.

These encourage all school students across Australia to use their developing technology skills to create a website that communicates their thoughts, feelings and ideas on one of our most important issues - the environment.

These encourage K-12 students in NSW public schools to design the front of a card suitable for the Christmas holiday season. The card should communicate a message of goodwill, harmony and celebration that would be appreciated by all community members.

These provide K-12 students in NSW public schools with an opportunity to use a variety of technologies to create a learning resource or learning object based on a concept drawn from a relevant syllabus area.
