Sometimes a child's humour in the classroom and in the wider community can be misinterpreted as disrespectful, insolent or inappropriate. Encourage and redirect it...talk about it and help teach your child social context, what is inappropriate and why. A sense of humour is a survival skill and a wonderful social tool and it takes skill and practice to develop.

A sense of humour is key to bringing up kids to enjoy the moment and to look at life less seriously, helping them to better manage stress. I try not to make things 'Bigger than they are' and encourage my kids to take the same viewpoint. It's about always putting in 100%, working to their full potential, but not being too hard on themselves or focusing on the results only.
