1. Check all local high schools that your child is interested in.
2. Visit school websites, attend high school information days/evenings, read the schools information package/brochures, ask other parents for personal recommendations.
3. Make an informed choice with agreement with your child as to high school selection.
4. Once decided, check out uniforms, text book prices, essentials and get weekly diary for your child to attend/plan for lessons and other school & extra curricular activities.
5. See if there is another child from same primary school or in neighbourhood that is attending the high school as your child. Develop friendship with family, if recriprocated.
6. Check out transport arrangements to and from school, bell times, location of office, canteen, uniform shop, toilets, classrooms etc. Get a map for your child and yourself.
7. Put the high school phone number in your mobile and get a copy of a school newsletter.
8. Start saving money (if possible) for uniforms, school fees, books, excursions etc.
9. Attend the Orientation Day with your child.
10. Preparation with information is essential.

I like to go to high school. Next year I am going to high school. And I am excited to go to high school.
