Flickr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite and online community platform. In addition to being a popular website for users to share personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers as a photo library. In November 2008, it claims to host more than 3 billion images.
Go to www.flickr.com and click Create your account.
If you have a Yahoo ID it’s simple, just enter in your ID and password. If you don’t click the Don’t have Yahoo ID sign up text.
Enter in your first and last names. Select your gender, birth month and enter in the day and year. Select your country and then enter your postcode.
Next select an ID and password. Yahoo will check the availability when you hit the check box and also give you some suggestions.
In case you forget your ID or password, enter your alternative email, select a security question and your answer.
Then type the weird text shown in the text box above.
Click that you agree to the terms and conditions, which can be viewed by clicking the text, and hit create my account.
A page will come up with your account details and an email will have been sent to you to confirm.
Hit the continue button at the right of the screen.
Now enter your password.
Choose your Flickr screen name - this can be different to your Yahoo ID.
Click on your profile.
Step 1: Create your buddy icon
Your buddy icon is a small image that appears on Flickr to represent you.
You can use an image you've uploaded or find a new image on your computer.
Step 2: Choose your custom Flickr URL
One of the ways you can easily share your photostream with friends is to customise your Flickr url.
This can't be changed later, so choose wisely!
Note: Your alias can only contain letters, numbers, "_" or "-".
Then hit the preview button.
Click on lock it in and continue.
Next you can personalise your profile. However, none of the information is required and you should think carefully before entering details on the internet.
Then hit next at the bottom of the page.
Now it’s time to upload your photos. Click on 2, upload your photos.
Click on choose your photos. You can choose them from your computer.
Then set your privacy setting by clicking private, visible to family,visible to friends or public and hit upload photos. Depending on how many you upload this might take a while so it might be time for a cup of tea and comfort break!
Next you can give all your photos titles and descriptions and tags, by typing them
into the text photos below the photos.
You can create a set of photos by clicking on new set at the right of the screen and name it and give it a description. Then hit save at the bottom of the page.
Now you have a photostream!
To share your photos you click share this in the right hand corner at the top of the page and enter in email addresses or your contact’s screen name.
Then hit send.
Your email has been sent along with a link for your family and friends to view.
Flickr is a great way to share and receive comments on photos. So whether you are a professional or amateur photographer it’s a great site for you.
