Governor of New South Wales.

Born in Malta
of Irish parents.

Colonial secretary
in Transvaal and Governor of the Seychelles Islands and Newfoundland
prior to becoming New South Wales Governor in 1917.

The Governor's
allowances were reduced by the Premier and his duties included speeches,
official openings, Vice-Regal functions and, after the war, they
also had to dedicate numerous war memorials.

Lady Davidson
inaugurated the State branch of the Girl Guides' Association.

Approved of
sixteen new members to the Upper House.

Refused dissolution
of government in 1921.
-
His term of
office was extended until March 1924.
-
Died whilst
in office in 1923.
