  • Twenty fourth Governor of New South Wales.

  • Born in Malta of Irish parents.

  • Colonial secretary in Transvaal and Governor of the Seychelles Islands and Newfoundland prior to becoming New South Wales Governor in 1917.

  • The Governor's allowances were reduced by the Premier and his duties included speeches, official openings, Vice-Regal functions and, after the war, they also had to dedicate numerous war memorials.

  • Lady Davidson inaugurated the State branch of the Girl Guides' Association.

  • Approved of sixteen new members to the Upper House.

  • Refused dissolution of government in 1921.

  • His term of office was extended until March 1924.

  • Died whilst in office in 1923.

  • Buried in South Head cemetery in Sydney.
