It is best to develop a brochure that will catch the eye of the teacher. It should be concise and have the Department's review comment from the authorisation letter.

Should we be teaching students?

Performers are not teachers. They have skills to offer students that teachers cannot provide. Your performance should be educational within its area. It is up to teachers to expand on what you have presented with the support of your teacher's notes. Some performers with a teaching background will already be familiar with ideas for crowd control and certain o the r strategies relevant to the school environment.

How many shows will I have to do if I want K-12 authorisation?

This is up to the chairperson - but in most cases it would be a primary and a secondary performance.

Should we include question time?

Some performances have a question time. The chairperson will advise you on whe the r it is appropriate. Most dramatic performances involving sensitive issues will need to include debriefing session after the performance.

Does registration cover all shows?

A performer pays ONE ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE regardless of the number of performances the y have authorised.

What happens if we change the format and/or cast?

If the script is change dramatically the Coordinator needs to be contacted. All cast members are required to complete the Working with Children Checks. Contact the Coordinator immediately to complete this procedure.

From the initial phone call it can take months, depending upon the stage of development of your program.

No! There are chairpersons across the state to preview your performance.

What do I do if I want another performance authorised?

You must complete a new Application Form and submit that to the Performances for Schools coordinator with the application fee of $45. The Performances for Schools Coordinator will arrange a preview of your new performance.
