Did you know that yesterday was the start of the:
Chinese new year (the year of the Rooster)
Javanese new year (1 Suro)
Islamic new year (1 Muharram)

*The Javanese marks it with 'tirakatan' and 'kirab atau keliling 
kraton Yogyakarta dengan membawa pusaka kraton');
*Some Muslims marks it with 'dzikir';
*The Chinese marks it with celebrations that also include 'sembahyang 
in the kelenteng' , worshipping 'Dewi Kebahagiaan' (She sen) and 
'Dewa Penolong' (Gwee Sen) who, this year, are in the north east 
position (Timur Laut).
