Teman-teman yang baik The web site of the NSW DET hosts Through my window. <http://www.curriculumsupport.nsw.edu.au/learningtechnologies/window/tea cher.htm> Through my window is a simple and engaging e-mail activity designed to allow students to communicate about their world through words and images. It is also a great way to contact other schools. Students, in groups, describe what they see, hear and smell through a window in their classroom. The description could be in English or another language. The description of the view should be as accurate as possible using vivid and precise language. The paragraph is then e-mailed to the Through my windows coordinator who will "post" it on this web site. <http://www.curriculumsupport.nsw.edu.au/learningtechnologies/window/sch ools.htm> Students from other schools can access and interpret the appearance of the described view. Students create a visual representation (drawing, printing, painting, collage or computer generated image) of the unseen view that complements the written description. Students then send the visual representation to the authoring school as either a digital image attached to an e-mail or by regular post. Using either a digital or still camera, the writers at the authoring school can capture the actual scene so that the students in the other schools may see how close they came with their visual representation. There are no rigid time frames for the activity. Schools can join whenever they complete a description or find one that they wish to create visually. However, descriptions will be cleared from the site at the end of each school year. This could be a great way to establish contact with a school in Indonesia. In fact two secondary schools in Indonesia (one in Jakarta, the other in Bandung) have posted messages to the Through my Window. They are hoping to receive a reply. You can read the descriptions at http://www.curriculumsupport.nsw.edu.au/learningtechnologies/window/scho ols.htm Also schools in Australia could establish links with other schools in Australia where Indonesian is taught.
