Indonesia's arts and culture will be on display after Her Excellency
Professor Marie Bashir AC, Governor of NSW will strike the traditional
gong when she opens the Indonesian Expo 2005 on September 9 at the
Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay.

The Acehnese body percussion group, Suara Indonesia Dancers, will
perform the

welcoming ceremony at 12.30pm

The free exhibition will be opened to the public 10am to 7pm Saturday
and Sunday. 

More than 50 exhibitors will have their products on display from
furniture, gifts, home wares, clothing, textiles, silver and gold
jewellery, as well as the introduction of new travel destinations
throughout Indonesia. The three-day expo - the biggest ever to come to
Australia - will also feature a diverse cultural program. All visitors
are eligible to enter the draw to win a holiday package to Bali to be
won as a lucky door prize, which consists of Garuda Indonesia return
tickets and 4-day accommodation for two at the Hotel Padma Bali.

Every day there will be cultural performances, with something to
interest everybody!  On Friday at 2pm, workshop on grass puppets
followed by a cultural performance by the Yogyakarta Cultural Mission at
3.30pm. 

On Saturday, the Linuwel School Gamelan Ensemble from Newcastle will
perform at 11am, which will be followed by a batik workshop at 12.30.

>From 2pm there is a Bridal Show exhibiting the latest in gown designs
plus how and where to get married in Bali and where to spend your
honeymoon. Be there, as one lucky young couple will win a Bali honeymoon
package with tickets from Air Paradise.  

On Sunday, a  Saman Dance workshop at 11am followed by a workshop on
East Javanese dances at 1.30pm. More cultural performances and the
winner of the lucky door prizes will be announces at the closing of the
Indonesian Expo at 5.30pm.

Don't miss Bali bargain time. As the 50 exhibitors do not want to take
their products back to Indonesia they will be selling them off - bargain
Bali style to pick up some great bargains.
