SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN INDONESIA

The Indonesian Department of National Education is offering one-year
scholarships to foreign students to study Indonesian or regional
languages, traditional music, dance or handicrafts at one of 36
institutions throughout Indonesia. Places are available at institutions
in Medan, Bukit Tinggi, Padang, Palembang, Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung,
Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Denpasar, Mataram and
Makasar.

As part of the scholarship (darmasiswa) program, there are a number of
Darmasiswa Plus positions where participants will be expected to teach a
foreign language at a Vocational High School or Teacher Training College
for 10 hours per week and to assist with the establishment of a language
club.

All scholarship recipients will be required to attend an orientation
session and Indonesian language course at the beginning of August 2006
and will begin studying at the commencement of the Indonesian academic
year in September.

The scholarship will cover academic fees and participants will be
provided with a monthly allowance of 1 million rupiah and a 300,000
rupiah annual clothing allowance. Return air travel to Indonesia will be
the responsibility of participants. In addition, Darmasiswa Plus
recipients will be provided with accommodation by the institute.


How to Apply
Applicants should complete the application form and fulfil the following
requirements:
1.    Be under 35 years of age;
2.    Have completed secondary school;
3.    Attach a copy of most recent academic transcript;
4.    Have basic knowledge in the subjects they will study on the
program;
5.    Physically fit (attach health certificate issued by GP);
6.    Attach 5 passport size photographs (3x4cm);
7.    Attach a photocopy of front page of passport (with minimum 2
years
validity);
8.    Be able to communicate in English.

Applications for the darmasiswa and darmasiswa plus program should be
made to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney by
the end of March 2006. Successful applicants will be announced in May.
