EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA CANBERRA - 2006 TOURS: Pre-booked, free interactive tours of the Museum and Cultural Centre. One of the few embassies in Canberra open to school tours. Adult group tours also welcome. DURATION: Tours last for one hour, but may be shortened at your request. ACTIVITIES: Dress up, experience Indonesia's amazing wildlife, visit an Indonesian house, put on a shadow puppet play, play traditional instruments, see inside a 2006 Indonesian teenagers bedroom, hear 2006 Indonesian teenager's music, see an original becak (bicycle taxi), experience food stalls, learn about Indonesia in 2006, walk though a Balinese temple entrance, explore the fish ponds and see a model of the famous Borobudur temple. Teachers' resource pack given to each school. Many other embassies/high commissions and the Canberra Mosque are nearby and a short walk to Lake Burley Griffin for picnics. Indonesian picnic lunch packs can be arranged through various Asian restaurants in Canberra. WORKSHOPS: Additional one-hour optional workshops are available on topics such as Indonesian martial arts, dance, music, puppets, Indonesian language, creative writing (in English or Indonesian), sketching, cooking, history and Indonesian wildlife (this tour can be combined with a ranger guided tour of the National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra to see Indonesian animals, birds and fish at an extra cost.). Workshops cost $40 per group for each workshop. HOURS: Mondays to Fridays from 9.30AM to 4.30PM. Closed for lunch from 1.00PM to 2.00PM. WHERE: Embassy of Indonesia, 8 Darwin Ave, Yarralumla, ACT 2600- near Parliament House. Free street parking outside the Embassy for buses and cars. COST: Tours are FREE.
