Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program 2006-2007

At its meeting on 2 March 2006, the Board of the Australia-Indonesia
Institute (AII) considered the current status of the
Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP). The Board agreed
that the sponsorship of two-way exchanges between the peoples of
Australia and of Indonesia are an essential part of the AII's
functions and that, subject to certain conditions being met, planning
for the 2006 - 2007 AIYEP should include a visit to Indonesia by an
Australian group.

The Australia-Indonesia Institute therefore invites applications from
young people aged between 21 and 25 willing to represent Australia
for two months in Indonesia during December 2006 and January 2007 as
members of the AIYEP 2006-2007.

The program aims to provide wider opportunities for the young people
of Indonesia and Australia to appreciate the culture, development and
way of life of each other's country.

Participants are chosen from applicants undertaking tertiary studies
or employed in any one or more of the areas listed below:

Agriculture, Arts, Music, Asian Studies, Economics, Business,
Education, Engineering, Science, Environmental Management,
Journalism, Media, Law, Medicine, Politics, Sports and Tourism.

A good level of Indonesian language is desirable.

The Indonesian exchangees are due to arrive in Australia at the start
of October 2006 and be hosted in the Northern territory.

Closing date: Completed applications and accompanying documents MUST
be received by the Australia-Indonesia Institute by Friday 9 June
2006. Late applications will not be accepted
