> The Department of Indonesian Studies is calling for expressions of interest
from suitably qualified people for its Indonesian-language guest lecture series,
which is an integral part of third and fourth level Indonesian (advanced level)
Indonesian at the University of Sydney.
> Guest lecturers must have native or near-native fluency in Indonesian, and
have expertise/a particular interest in relation to the topic of the guest
lecture (see below). Guest lectures are encouraged to use visual aids and/or
other means of illustrating aspects of their presentation. They are expected to
speak for approximately 30 minutes and then field questions and answers for
approximately 20 minutes. Former guest lecturers include Indonesians,
Indonesian-speaking academics and Indonesian-speaking people who have worked
and/or spent considerable time in Indonesia. Lectures will be recorded for use
by students who cannot attend.
> Guest lecturers are paid at the casual lecturing rate, which next semester
will be $135.09. This fee includes preparation and delivery of the lecture,
including the preparation of a detailed Indonesian-language summary of the
material and an English-language note-taking guide (a series of 6-8 questions
about main points that will be covered in the course of the lecture) for the
third level students.
