Commemorating Indonesia's Independence Day and Promoting Indonesian 
Studies at UNSW

COME AND ENJOY A RARE AND SPECIAL PERFORMANCE BY 'PUNAKAWAN QUARTET' 
from Jakarta, led by the Indonesian great pianist Jaya Suprana

Organized by the Indonesian Studies Department of New South Wales University
in cooperation with the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney.
(The ICC MAY also use the occasion for 'Jogja Quake Aid')

  Who are the "Punakawan Quartet"?
The group is led by the one and only JAYA SUPRANA, the Indonesian 
great pianist.
Using the names of the four punakawans of the Wayang, the group 
specializes in the 'musik-sufi Nusantara'
* Petruk: The legendary guitarist- four times winner of the national 
festival and the receiver of the South-East Asian Distinguished 
Award, Jubing Kristianto
* Bagong: The professional bass-guitarist, Heru Kusnadi
*Gareng: The supra-natural percussionist and the winner of the Yamaha 
Festival in East Java, Junaedi Musliman
*Semar: The 'invincible' pianist--'magically powerful', Jaya Suprana.
