11:00pm MOVIE - DRAMA: WHISPERING SANDS - (PASIR BERBISIK) -
Directed by Nan Triveni Achnas, this film was hugely popular at the 2002
Sydney Film Festival. It tells the story of Berlian (Christine Hakim)
and Daya (Dian Sastrowardoya) and other Indonesians who are attempting
to survive and maintain a social framework in harsh desert conditions.
The bonds of friendship and family and the demands of loyalty and
honesty are sometimes hard to sustain in this difficult environment.
