ASILE Conference Sunshine Coast 5th - 8th July

Indonesian Language Teaching in the Age of Uncertainty

"Is Indonesian language teaching past the point of no return?"

Join Indonesian educators from around Australia for the 9th Biennial Australian Society of Indonesian Language Educators (ASILE) conference to have your say on this pressing issue, or simply come along to build networks and listen to some of the enlightening speakers already on the program

http://intranet.usc.edu.au/wacana/ASILE/program.html, including author, Walkley Award winner and ABC personality Mark Bowling, Dr Priyono from the University of Mataram, Lombok and Indrawati Zifirdaus of Curtin University.

Beginning on Thursday 5th July, the evening will be spent mingling by the Rydges Oasis Caloundra bar overlooking the pool, providing a relaxed atmosphere to get acquainted and reacquainted with other Indonesian educators from across Australia and to enjoy the entertainment provided by Srikandi women's group.

The following day, Friday 6th July will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast, where the conference will get underway. Be part of the first ASILE online audio-conference with educators in Indonesia before having lunch with the Indonesian Ambassador Teuku Mohammad Hamzah Thayeb.

Music will be provided by the St John's Gamelan Orchestra and angklung played by Stella Maris primary school students.

Wind down in the evening during dinner at the Oasis.

On Saturday the conference will move to the Rydges Oasis Resort and continue with the topic of Indonesian language teaching in the age of uncertainty. Share your opinions, concerns and experiences and gain insight into those of your colleagues.

Sunday 8th July will see the conference wrap up with plenty of opportunity to explore the Sunshine Coast and socialise with the Ngobrol and Srikandi community groups.

For further information see the ASILE website:
