Film KALA besutan Joko Anwar terpilih menjadi Film Penutup Puchon
International Fantastic Film Festival (PIFAN) di Korea

Film kedua dari Joko Anwar berjudul KALA yang baru saja dirilis di
tanah air bulan April lalu memulai debut festival internasionalnya di
Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. KALA mendapat kehormatan
menjadi Closing Film di festival tersebut pada tanggal 19 Juli
mendatang. Film yang beraliran suspense-thriller ini muncul di kancah
internasional pertama kalinya di Marche Du Film di Cannes Festival
Festival bulan Mei lalu dan membuat gebrakan besar dengan terseleksi
di 3 film festival ternama sekaligus di bulan Juli ini. 

KALA adalah film layar lebar pertama yang diproduksi oleh MD Pictures
dengan produser Manoj Punjabi dan Dhamoo Punjabi ini membuat rekor
baru dengan menjadi film Indonesia pertama yang masuk dalam specific
genre film festival. Puchon International Film Festival memang
merupakan festival film genre (horror, fantasi, science-fiction, dan
fairy tales) terbesar di Asia. 

Karya pertama Joko Anwar berjudul "Janji Joni" yang diproduksi oleh
Kalyana Shira Films telah diseleksi oleh lebih dari 40 film festival
di dunia dan menuai sukses yang cukup besar baik di tanah air maupun
di luar negeri. MD Pictures sendiri adalah adik perusahaan MD
Entertainment yang telah banyak memproduksi film-film, serial,
sinetron untuk konsumsi TV. 

Joko Anwar dan kedua aktor utama film tersebut Fachry Albar dan Ario
Bayu dan juga John Badalu yang bertindak sebagai Publicist
International film tersebut akan bertolak ke Puchon pada tanggal 17
Juli untuk menghadiri festival tersebut untuk memenuhi undangan malam
penutupan yang akan dihadiri oleh banyak insan perfilman dari segala
penjuru dunia. 

Selanjutnya KALA telah juga terseleksi dan masuk seksi kompetisi di
Osian's Cinefan Film Festival di New Delhi juga di bulan Juli ini.
Aktris Fahrani yang akan memenuhi undangan pada festival tersebut.
Osian's Cinefan Film Festival setiap tahunnya menghadirkan film-film
Indoensia yang berkualitas 

Bersamaan dengan Osian's Cinefan Film Festival di New Delhi, KALA juga
masuk dalam official selection di Bangkok International Film Festival
yang merupakan salah satu festival bergengsi di Asia Tenggara. Joko
Anwar juga akan menghadiri pemutaran film KALA tersebut di Bangkok. 

Tidak hanya berhenti disitu, KALA yang bertahan dalam jangka waktu
yang pendek di bioskop-bioskop tanah air juga sudah terseleksi di
Jogja Netpac Asia Film Festival dan Q! Film Festival di Jakarta untuk
bulan Agustus nanti, Umea International Film Festival di Swedia pada
bulan September, Screamfest di Jakarta dan Bandung di bulan November
dan Taiwan Golden Horse Film Festival di Taipei di akhir November.

Joko Anwar's "KALA" premiered internationally as The Closing Film at
Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PIFAN) in Korea

KALA, the second feature film of young director Joko Anwar that was
just released in theatres last April will make its international debut
in Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. KALA is honoured as
The Closing Film and will be screened on July 19. This
suspense-thriller epic that made its international market premiere in
Cannes Film Festival last May has made a record by being selected in 3
prestigious film festivals in July alone. 

KALA is the first feature film produced by MD Pictures and Manoj
Punjabi and Dhamoo Punjabi sit in the producer;s chair. KALA is the
first Indonesian film that is selected in fantastic genre film
festival. Puchon International Film Festival is the biggest fantastic
film festival in Asia. 

Joko Anwar's first feature "Janji Joni" (Joni's Promise) that is
produced by Kalyana Shira Films has been selected in more 40 film
festivals around the world and enjoyed a hit domestically. MD Pictures
is the sister company of MD Entertainment whose produced hundreds of
films made for TV and serials. Not long after KALA being released, MD
Pictures put its second feature film SUSTER NGESOT (THE NURSE) in the
theatres and made quite a box office. 

Joko Anwar and the two main actors Fachry Albar and Ario Bayu and also
John Badalu as the publicist of the film will go to Puchon on July 17
to attend the closing ceremony.

After PIFAN, KALA is also selected and is honoured to be put in
Competition section at Osian's Cinefan Film Festival in New Delhi,
India also in this July. One of the main actress in KALA, Fahrani will
attend the festival. Each year the presence of Indonesian films at
Osian's Cinefan are always strong. 

Alongside with Osian's Cinefan Film Festival in New Delhi, KALA is
also in the official selction at Bangkok International Festival. Joko
Anwar will also go to Bangkok to attend the screening after PIFAN. 

The queuing festivals after July for KALA are Jogja Netpac Asia Film
Festival and Q! Film Festival Jakarta at the end of August, Umea
International Film Festival in Sweden in September, Screamfest in
Jakarta and Bandung in November and Taiwan Golden Horse Film Festival
in Taipei at the end of November.
