Subject: [asia-ednet] Asian Language Associations

---------------------------------
Asia EdNet Discussion Group
---------------------------------

Calling any Asian Language Associations.... please read the final
paragraph of this posting!

As you may already know, the forthcoming annual Indonesian Teachers
Conference of South Australiajointly prsented by INTAN and IPLS will be
held on the 4th of August in Adelaide. Please contact Andrea Corston
(see below) or myself for more details. We welcome your attendance!

During the recent ASILE conference there was much informal discussion
amongst participants about forming a National Indonesia Teachers'
Association, or at least a forum where all states/territories were
represented. This would facilitate dialogue and ideas on strengthening
the teaching of Indonesian across the country, and provide a great
opportunity for all associations to come together, swap ideas, support
one-another and move forward together.

I would like to continue this conversation and invite contributions from
all Indonesian Teacher Associations on how this could be managed and
developed. In addition, this is an ideal opportunity for any other Asian
language associations to contribute ideas and suggestions on how their
own association works and how Indonesian Teaching Associations could
benefit from implementing these ideas.

I look forward to reading your contributions!

JODIE EDWARDS

President, INTAN
