Also and more importantly my email address was mispelt. The correct address should read sue.aiyep at tcn.com.au <mailto:sue.aiyep at tcn.com.au> Host families, work placements and school concert venues still eagerly sought for October. Thanks Sue Are you interested in providing a homestay or work placement for YOUNG INDONESIAN STUDENT LEADERS ? A group of 18 university students - potential future leaders of Indonesia - will visit Sydney in October to experience Australia's culture and way of life. Sponsored by the Australia-Indonesia Institute in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the the Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP) is run in conjunction with the Indonesian Government's Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport. The students will spend three weeks in homestay and work placements in Sydney over three weeks Saturday 18 October to Sunday 9 November. Nine women and men, aged 21 to 25, have been selected from across Indonesia. They have bright futures in the arts and media, industry, business, agriculture, law and government, education, health, the environment, tourism, and social and community development. Their English is good and they will undergo a thorough orientation program on arrival in Sydney. "I'm so pleased we were part of the program, it was a wonderful experience for us and our whole extended family. We found it well organised and we appreciated the excellent flow of communication." Host families will gain an insight into Indonesian culture, customs and attitudes while helping to promote the bilateral relationship on a personal level. Each family receives a weekly subsidy of $150, additional to the Indonesian participants having a basic living allowance. The Indonesians will undertake work placements from Tuesday to Friday for these three weeks. They'll also give a highly entertaining and interactive, weekly cultural performance to schools, universities and interested community bodies during their time in Sydney. At the end of their stay the group will spend three weeks in a country centre, then return to Sydney to join their Australian counterpart group for a similar two-month stay in the Indonesian province of East Java. To express interest in providing a homestay or work experience placement, contact the program's Sydney Coordinator Suzan Piper, 0410 716 553, <sue.aiyep at tcn.com.au> -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
