     When: 2.30pm, Saturday March 14th
     Where: 
      Old Darlington School
      Maze Crescent
      The University of Sydney

     Gamelan scholar and singer Susan Pratt Walton, visiting from
     the University of Michigan, will give a talk on the history of
     Javanese singing.
 "The Javanese Female Singer as Sacred Hussy and Enticing Court Lady:
  Social Class and Musical Style."

     This will be followed, around 3.30pm, by a singing workshop taught
     by Langen Suka musical director Vi King Lim with Susan.  Covering
     scales and pronunciation, this will be suitable for beginners, but
     will try to give a feel for some of the more complex forms as well.
