Hi everyone.
At the ASILE conference last holidays, a suggestion was
made that some teachers might like to collaborate on writing classroom
resources to be uploaded to the SurfAid website, for use in the
Indonesian classroom. If you haven't had time already, take a look at
the website, particularly the education (schools) pages. It is a
fantastic resource, promoting global citizenship, and would be really
useful for us as teachers. It is also very up-to-date as SurfAid are on
the ground at present in Indonesia, so is relevant and authentic.
It
has taken me a whole term to gather some momentum but I am now asking
for anyone interested in getting together to contribute (team effort)
and produce some resources for them. It would be done on a volunteer
basis, and perhaps we could aim the resources at middle years (they
currently have senior and junior levels covered). I envisage that we
meet one Saturday morning to begin with, and see how long we need from
there. It could be an ILTA effort. Please let me know if you would be
keen.
Secondly,
I have a student going in to Year 12 who is very keen to spend a gap
year (working , volunteering, studying or all of the above) in
Indonesia, but is not sure where to go, or how to organize this. If
anyone can make some suggestions I would greatly appreciate this. She
is an amazing student with a passion for Indo.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Heidi
