Hi rappers,

Here is our response to Rap Point 1:

We enjoyed "Home" by Narelle Oliver very much, but we had already read
it a few weeks ago when we were voting for our favourite Book Week
books, so it was hard to imagine the book again without remembering all
the pictures. We already knew that the story was set in Brisbane.

The peregrine falcons must have felt a bit scared by the city, honking
cars, whistling wind, splashing water, squealing truck brakes, and the
child on the swing. The tall buildings looked like cliffs, and the
boats looked like many-legged animals. The falcons were surprised by
the dragon boats and the hot air balloon.

We imagined ourselves as peregrine falcons in the city:

* "I was on the ledge and I could see funny owls without feathers, with
hairy caterpillars crawling above their eyes." (Humans with dark
eyebrows.)

* "I was on the ledge and I looked down. I could see strange bugs. They
were red, yellow and green, and they were crawling around, hissing,
honking, squealing and crashing into each other." (Cars on the street
below.)

* "I was on the ledge and I could see a colony of noisy birds with many
wings." (TV news helicopter.)

* "I was on the ledge at night and I could see big, scruffy, lion-like
creatures running towards me." (Feral street cats.)

Mr McLean showed us "Frodocam" on the Internet today. At first the
ledge was empty, but then we could see Frodo's tail (or maybe it was
Freda?). In a few frames, Frodo's toe had moved a tiny bit. Suddenly,
the image changed and Frodo was looking straight into the camera lens!
He was really close!

"Frodocam" is amazing!

From your Year 4 friends at Penrith Public School.
