Welcome to the PDHPE rap on the Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games Rap will run from Week 1 of Term 3, 2002 to Week 4 of Term 3, 2002 and is suitable for Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6) students. This rap is designed to develop students knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth Games and the importance of an active lifestyle.

Dates

The following dates indicate the activities and timeline for the Commonwealth Games Rap.

* Introductions and Rap point 1
Week 1 (Week beginning 22 July 2002)
* Rap point 2 Week 2 (Week beginning 29 July 2002)
* Rap point 3 Week 3 (Week beginning 5 August 2002)
* Rap wrap up Week 4 (Week beginning 12 August 2002)

PDHPE outcomes
This rap will provide opportunities for students to work towards the following Stage 3 outcomes from the PDHPE K-6 Syllabus.

Knowledge and understanding
Active Lifestyle (ALS3.6)
Shows how to maintain and improve the quality of an active lifestyle.
Games and Sports (GSS3.8)
Applies movement skills in games and sports that require communication, cooperation, decision-making and observation of rules.

Skills
Communicating (COS3.3)
Communicates confidently in a variety of situations.

Values and attitudes
V6 Commits to realising their full potential.


Information communication technologies

This rap will assist Stage 3 students in the development of their ability to:

  • use ICT to locate, access, evaluate, manipulate, create, store and retrieve information

  • express ideas and communicate with others, using ICT.

How do schools get involved involved?

From 22 July 2002 (Week 1, Term 3) you may participate in the Commonwealth Games Rap by entering your email address in the boxes below and clicking the Submit button after each section is completed.

Archives of the class email discussion

Teacher email will not be archived

At the conclusion of this rap, teacher email will not be archived to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of discussions between participating teachers and the coordinator of the rap.

You will receive emails to confirm that:

  • your subscription was successful
  • you are in the teacher support email system or listserv
  • your class is accepted to participate in the rap.
