Kirse karate

Marayong Public School

Yo Rappers!

Class 5W listed all our ideas of possible new sports and then we voted to choose our favourite. The winning sport was "Kirse Karate".

Name of sport: Kirse karate.

Playing area: The playing area is a floating oval shaped arena. It has safety nets underneath.

Teams: Teams consist of two representative players from each of the four Hogwarts’ houses. A Round Robin competition is held, which results in a Kirse karate "Grand Master".

House points: The Grand Master receives 250 house points, whilst the runner up receives 100.

Equipment: Players wear a vest with house emblem on the back. Each player needs a wand, with which to tap their opponent. A safety net is positioned below the floating arena and catches any falling players, who have been tapped by their opponent. A levitation spell, which is placed on each player, is broken once a player is tapped by their opponent.

Rights & Responsibilities: The aim of this game is to touch the opponent on the emblem located on the back of their vest. When this happens, the contacted player glows, freezes and falls into the net below.

Scoring: The winner goes on to play in further elimination rounds. The Grand Master is invited to compete against champions from other wizardry schools.

Playing faults: Players are not allowed to grab or hold one another. No closed fists to the face nor headlocks are permitted.

Penalties: A player is awarded five seconds for a free shot at the opponent, if a penalty occurs against them.

Time outs: Two time outs are allowed; each five minutes in length.

Role of referee: The referee, who flies on a broomstick and carries a wand, controls penalty decisions and monitors the rules of the game.
