Welcome to the Identity: Sharing our stories rap Identity: Sharing our stories is available in Term 2, 2008. The rap supports Aboriginal studies across key learning areas and is suitable for Stages 3 and 4 (Years 5, 6, 7 and 8). It focuses on Stage 3 and Stage 4 syllabus outcomes in English, HSIE and PDHPE. This rap explores cultural factors affecting identity, with Program and planning ideas which can provide additional support and resources for teaching units such as:
This rap features Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices reflecting on identity, belonging, family and how each student can aim for the stars. Students from Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal backgrounds will read short factual texts by Aboriginal authors and then write about:
The rap discussion focuses on the following texts. Please print these out for your students to read and discuss each week For Rap point 1: My People, my place Syllabus outcomes Stage 3 Lizzie Chase, Head Teacher Teaching and Learning, Chifley College Bidwill Campus. Maureen Wenzel, Aboriginal Education Consultant, and Daphne Bell, Aboriginal Education Assistant, Crawford Public School, will also be available online during the rap. Ian McLean, teacher librarian at Penrith Public School, will also join us during the rap. From 16 May 2008, you may participate in the Identity: Sharing our stories rap by going to the Identity blog for instructions on to sign up to register a username for your class group. After registering You will receive a confirmation email from Edublogs. Make a note of the username and the password (which can be changed).
