Activity 1: Class discussion

  • What have you enjoyed about participating in this rap?

  • During this rap, what have you learnt about
    • Aboriginal culture and beliefs?
    • dealing with difficult times and challenges in life?
    • cultural identity and building a strong future?

  • During this rap what skills have you developed in
    • using technology to read, write and communicate?
    • reading texts?
    • any other skills you improved?

  • What was the highlight of this rap for you?

Rap reflection sheet 1 followed by Rap reflection sheet 2, can assist with this activity.

Optional activity

Having participated in this rap, create your own paintings, drawings or digital collages about belonging, identity and growing up proud. Write a paragraph about the symbols in your own picture, to tell us what each of them is about. Your class may choose to post one or a number of these works to the rap blog.

Activity 2: Posting your final group response

After completing the rap reflection sheets, use the ideas about what you have learned to prepare the final class response. Post the response once the teacher has approved the final text.

Thank you for joining our rap.

Remember, those who read and dream and grow up strong succeed!
