Berkeley Public School is situated in an established residential area on the shores of Lake Illawarra including public and private housing. The school was established in 1858 and grew significantly following the establishment of a migrant hostel in the district in 1951.
Our school motto 'Courtesy and Knowledge' underpins all operations within the school as we strive to provide a learning environment, which is safe and caring, while catering for the diverse needs of all students.
Teaching and learning programs promote the pursuit of excellence in all Key Learning Areas and provide students with the skills to be on-going learners and make valuable contributions to society.
Special Needs
The New South Wales Department of Education and Communities support students with special needs in public schools in a range of ways. This may include support classes for students in regular and special schools. You can also discuss your child's learning needs with the principal of your child's school. For more information about the full range of support services in New South Wales public schools please go to Disability Programs http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/studentsupport/programs/disability.php
